New York City

My parents won a trip to NYC for a one-night-stay in a fancy hotel.

Since the trip had to be taken on a week-day night, and my dad couldn’t take off work, they gave it to me for my birthday.

So, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, my mom and I got on a train and headed out to NYC.

Now, if I’m being honest, I’m not the biggest fan of New York City. I find it a bit obnoxious. Everything is big and loud and crowded. I prefer Pittsburgh, even with all the bridges.

I still have to admit that New York has some really amazing sights. Not only is it a cultural epicenter, it’s also home to some of the most amazing street art I’ve ever seen.

There’s also incredible architecture.

If beautiful buildings aren’t for you, don’t lose hope! My personal favorite part of NYC is Broadway.

My mom and I got to see Phantom of the Opera. Well, I saw it. My mom fell asleep.

To be fair, it was way past her bedtime.

It was an incredible performance though. The actors sang like angels.

If you know Phantom hopefully you find that joke funny. If not, sorry.

That’s a lie, I’m not sorry.

If somehow you’re still uninterested, I also happened to find rubber ducks dressed like the Statue of Liberty.

Honestly, this is the best thing.
